Tristan's first holy communion
Our anniversary came.. At this point we’d already had a
pretty busy weekend but we had church regardless and we were invited to
celebrate Tristan’s First Holy Communion.. for the Christians in our life who
are confused - In Catholicism, practicing Catholics make their
first Holy Communion at the age of seven or eight. This is considered the age
of reason in Catholicism. Thus children making their first Holy Communion can
understand exactly what they are doing when they first accept the bread and
blood of Jesus. In Christian denominations, bread and wine may be passed to all
members of a church once they have accepted Christ in our hearts.
The Adame/Fertitta family is very close to us… we’ve done a lot for them and
they’ve always been there for us so we stopped our day to make sure we could
celebrate with Tristan for his special day.
We showed up as the priest entered the church so we sat far
away from the group of communion students (and got no pictures of Tristan receiving
his first communion) but this is what the sea of little people looked like in
the church pews. We celebrated his first holy communion at Brio, where Drew
and I also celebrated our one month anniversary so in our hearts celebrating
our two year anniversary, it was equally as special as we planned it to be. Tristan’s cake was made by Freeds Bakery.
They also made these T J F - Tristan John Fertitta cookies
:] WIN!
