The Hurt and the Healer

Image
So.. Listen to this song  It has been two years, three months, and 21 days since my best friend died... This being said since her death I have spoken at 7 press conferences, appeared at 21 high schools, appeared as staff at over 15 outreach events and I lost count of broadcasting/ newspaper/ radio interviews because I stopped recording them after my DVR was full and I can't keep up with the newspaper.. One commercial, one legislative bill passed and one campaign; all supported by my hands, voice, and heart which helped to make a difference... Someone asked me yesterday "what helps you grieve this loss in such a positive way, and how are you only 21 years old!?"  My response? My age has nothing to do with it, I have always been the "old soul," don't know why, just am... What helped me? : my faith, my family, my friends, my sweet love, and one of the most important blessings and doors of which have opened, my job. I am given the job opportuni...

Abby, no longer a princess though the supreme

Abby Marie ...   Her and I are very close… I mean she’ll consider us twins, best friends, cheetah sisters, co-chef’s in the kitchen… and when she grows up, she wants to be a hairstylist and a babysitter… potentially because I am her hairstylist and her babysitter? None the less, this was my babygirl’s day to shine… This was her second pageant at the Fern Adair Conservatory for the Arts… Now, the funny thing is… her last pageant she did with the “Creative Princess” entry… she got the (general award, certificate of attendance… thanks for coming) plain “everyone wins something” crown…                         Not cute enough for a title, but cute enough to be on the summer pageant flyer   ( LAME ) but cool… or at least I thought so  Though Abby was proud of herself and being four years old young and naive, she believed she won! It didn’t sit well with me as her now babysitter/fri...

One of her last nights as a Mariscal

Drew and I have friends named Robert and Janeth, We met them at Church and this weekend they're getting married! Exciting, we know... this being said, we can't wait to watch them embark upon their "Happily Ever After" Together. As they continue to grow under God's Grace and their passion for one another continues to be enriched by the present of one another's presence... we are so very thankful to be apart of their lives, and we hope they feel the same... this being said, We ladies had to celebrate before her big day, and the right way... I mean, We DO live in Las Vegas don't we!? We had yet to even sit down when they'd shoved a shot and a yard long mixed drink in her hand... :] The Adult themed Pinata at Coconuts Town Square Somehow Ashley's finger flicked this into my drink... and that was the end of  my Pina Colada! We Love you girl! Congratulations!!! The Candy after all of the "good stuff" was removed. Mos...

Monday nights with the nephew and his mother...

I discovered the other day, The grief center Drew and I volunteer at Monday Night's is 10 minutes away from a dear friend's house... She has a two month old son named Brody, and Drew and I were at the hospital the day he was born, As a matter of fact, not only was Brody the first baby Drew'd ever held the day the infant was born, Brody was the first "Family Friend Nephew" We acquired. I believe I'll be stopping by their home every other Monday for a year! haha <3 We love him dearly, so while Drew was visiting with out of town family... I went over to Bre's house to visit with her family and our "Phew" So, this is Brody in his wonderful Snugabunny Bouncer from his Grandpa... and the blanket in which his mom crocheted for him before he was born... and this is his mommy's hands, while she was trying to show me on how she'd crochet'd his blanket ... and me still being completely confused but awesomely struck in utter dis...

The interns who left a legacy...

Image
Drew and I were given the opportunity to watch my girls: my Interns for my old job as an Administrative Assistant at a local grief center graduate today. It’s weird… sometimes; God places people in your life to help you understand the beauty of their presence in your life. Sometimes they come in the form of elders, or old neighbors, crossing guards, or your coast guard neighbor home from Iraq. In times he’s the stay at home dad in line at Target or the Workaholic mom at Jamba Juice… though all of the people you meet hold one evident truth… They are in fact a gift to your presence; whether likable or untrustworthy, beautiful or challenges; they all are humans who God loves… and has placed them before us for unknown reasons….  The four following girls are my interns; these girls mean so much to me… Over the last year and in key - from last summer to last Christmas, these girls have walked into my life and into my heart. They all carry different stories, backgrounds, families,...

Our New series at church it's a doozy!

Image
Yesterday was the second week of our new series at Gracepoint Church, now for me I thought the first week really got to me and it did but this week's message spoke to me in a different light. It was one of those messages that you continue to sit and listen and keep getting more and more frustrated because you know everything that is being said is totally true and you don't want to hear it but it is what you NEED to hear. For me those kinds of messages it takes at least a day to really settle into my mind and allow me to pick about everything that was said and figure out how I can incorporate those lessons into my life. Well as I write this post to all of you that may be following I am still in that process.

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today. - Stacia Tauscher
