Bryer’s 1st Birthday

Happy 1st Birthday young man.  Today you are a whole year old and I love everything about you being older. Wiser and ready to take on the day. You are one year old today and I am so proud to be your mama.


You are so smart. You speak a new word almost once a day. I wasn’t prepared for that but I’ve oddly lost count of how many words you already know. Around 5 months old you did say mama first and I’ve never been happier. 


You have 8 teeth and eat almost everything we put in front of you, you love water, blueberries, beans, and mostly all dried fruits. You love to eat. Snacks are your favorite. You’re still breastfeeding, this is a feat I never assumed we’d reach with all of your prior allergies, lip and tongue tie revision, and so many hurdles but you made it and we are so proud of you.


You didn’t start at a real preschool until almost 11 months so your best friends are still your IVF friends - Hazel and Lucy. Your friend Owen also came to your first birthday which was so sweet. 


You got the courage to take a few steps during your first birthday party so to say you’re able to walk is new news. You are a quick crawler and get an adrenaline rush crawling fast throughout the house. You don’t like strangers (or are highly selective about your closest acquainted adults) 


You also don’t watch tv / or didn’t until you got pneumonia a month ago and now you have favored Sesame Street. 


You don’t have an ultimate favorite toy but as of recently you’ve become fascinated with all things yellow - you picked a yellow ford bronco and Lamborghini during that pneumonia stint and they’re your favorite. You love golf clubs, lacrosse sticks and as of your birthday party, baseball bats. 


I hope the next year we watch you become more independent. Nursing is currently your favorite activity and you don’t leave moms side for very long to venture off and become your own hero but I see that changing as soon as you’re Weaned.


We love you, God loves you, and we are so thankful you’re here.

Your 2nd Birthday

  Bryer boy, Bryer boy. I cannot believe you are two. I will never forget the night I went into labor with you. I went to the hospital around 10 or 11 o’clock at night on the 23rd. I remember thinking, I can’t believe he’s doing this to me. Your dad said you could come any day, and of course, you chose a day that will forever confuse me when it comes to your birthday and your actual birth date. But that’s just like you, full of surprises. And in these last 365 days, you’ve continued to surprise me in the best ways. I’m not shocked one bit. You are everything I didn’t know I needed, and someone I absolutely adore. You are completely obsessed with both of your parents. Audrey? That love is a little more conditional, but you love your whole family big: extended, chosen, and blood-related. You love to play and will play with anyone willing to join you. Your eighth birthday

  Audrey Kaydence. Today you are 8 years old. Holy cow kid. You made it to 8. Time goes faster than what I would deem appropriate but all in all you have had quite some LIFE in your years. Let’s recap the last year shall we?  You switched schools in February, which was a challenging decision, but a good one you were at a much smaller school now with a much smaller network of friends and it is healthier for you.  Your blonde hair is still blonde and your eyes are still this gray blue green. They change all the time primarily gray and green sometimes blue and green still very light still very curly. You have more freckles now than you ever have before and I am admiring watching your face with glasses as I know that contacts are coming soon to help with your myopia. You will always be my baby.
